Tangaroa House are having a mufti day to raise funds to support the charity Give a Kid a Blanket. Give a Kid a Blanket is a community action of kindness, they gather donations of warmth from across Auckland and gift these to kids and families in need through health and social agencies. The monies raised by the mufti day will go towards buying blankets, pillows and duvets. The Tangaroa Prefects have offered to volunteer at the Blanket Base to help with sorting donations and making up packs.
The mufti day theme is to wear pyjamas or a onesie. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation on Tuesday, 14 June and give it to their Form Teacher at form time. Students can also, or may prefer to, donate new or excellent condition pre-loved blankets, sleeping bags, duvets, baby sleep sacks, winter bedding, duvet inners and covers, pyjamas, beanies, socks, jumpers, winter coats, rain coats, cots or Moses baskets. All that is required is that used items are clean and washed and are bagged or boxed (to adhere to covid restrictions). Donations can be given to the student's Form Teacher for collection or if they are big items they can be dropped off at the school reception for the attention of Ms Smith, Tangaroa House Dean.
