Many cultures are represented in the school and students take pride in representing their heritage in a variety of ways.
Cultural Celebration Night
The school hall comes alive with a dazzling display of culture, lights and costumes. From traditional to modern and everything in between, including the annual favourite teachers' dance, this night is not to be missed. Food stalls are a highlight at half time. Booking in advance is essential!
Kapa Haka
Te Kapa Haka o Te Waimokoia is a collaboration between Glendowie College, Tamaki and Edgewater Colleges After a comprehensive period of practice, they performed for the first time at Polyfest in 2025. More recently, they took to the Glendowie College Hall stage to perform at the Culture Night and received an amazing response from the crowd!
Language weeks
Various Pacific language weeks are celebrated at the college. Students create quizzes, give speeches at assembly and dress in cultural dress to show their unique connections to 'home'.
Haka and Waiata Competition
This annual House competition is a highlight of the school year, held at the end of term three. The competition involves students performing haka and waiata, showcasing their passion and pride.
