June Meeting : Thursday 25 June 2026
Dear Glendowie College community,
On behalf of the Board and school community, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the Hope family and friends. Having been poolside with the family since Year 3, we have spent many weekends watching Leo continuing to master the sneaky back hook. Leo had been a valued member of the Flippa Ball and Water Polo teams; he will be missed. The school will continue to offer any support as required to the students and families.
As Term 2 has drawn to a close, it’s time to reflect on how this eleven-week term has progressed. This term has been jam-packed with student led activities, market days, cultural, arts and musical events. There have been some very successful groups and teams that have earned a relaxing break.
The first round of CAAs has happened, and more reporting was sent to parents on student progress. Remember early Term 3 is subject selection for 2027.
At our Board meeting on 25 June, we had the Technology faculty presented their challenges which are subject exposure, resources and the new curriculum. As a result, they have merged tech fields and created a 9DAT course with the aim of ensuring students receive exposure to all topics in technology to enable future year subject choices. The team is also a varied group, and they create ideal synergies across the subjects. As a department, they feel confident that with the MYP format well embedded, that the new curriculum will slot in well.
On 25 July, we have the Open Day, so if you know of families looking to join GDC for 2027, suggest they pop along to learn about the school and the enrolment process.
Wishing you a relaxing break and see you in Term 3.
Ngā mihi nui,
Belinda Sutherland
Presiding Member
